LET'S STOP THIS

Since the release of the personal bio of literary icon Prof. Chinua Achebe 'There was a country',it has been greeted with divergent views. The book described Chief Obafemi Awolowo as a power grabbing monster who committed genocide to win the despicable civil war.But the question is,is this necessary?of what importance is this book to nation building? How is this book going to help us grow as a nation?

At a time like this, when our collective existence is threatened by ethnic and religious crisis,I don't think it was the best decision to publish this book.An elder statesman like  Prof. Chinua Achebe should realize this.He ought to know that he is revered by a huge number of people and many people would always buy into his views .We shouldn't be made to remember the ugly incidences of the civil war.

The uproar this book has caused shows how backward we are as citizens of Nigeria. It has shown that we are not Nigerians instead we are citizens of our various ethnic group. You see supposed 'Elder states men' supporting their tribes instead of coming out with the truth. This is bad for a country like Nigeria. There is no way we can make progress in conditions like this.

What are your views on Prof. Chinua Achebe's book?

WHEN WILL WE HAVE CONSTANT LIGHT?

Ever since Nigeria got her independence in 1960,we have never generated above 4000 mega watts of electricity.Isn't it embarrassing for a country with an ever growing population and calls herself the giant of Africa?

Undermining the huge amount of money being invested yearly by successive P.D.P governments in the last 13 years, power seems to have worsened instead of improving. It was well documented that during the Obasanjo administration, over $16 billion dollars was spent on power yet we couldn't even produce above 3000 mega watts. This is the kind of country we live in.Nobody has been asked on how that huge amount of money was spent.

Now for the first time our power  sector is improving, the person that is responsible for the improvement, was removed for no reasonable reason. It seems the generator importing cabal that know they will go out of business once we have constant power. It also seems like our thieving politicians will never be happy seeing their non-government citizen with no money to run their generators 24/7 have constant power.

Do you think Nigeria can ever have constant power?

IS THERE ANY END TO THIS MENACE?

Nigeria is currently passing through a very difficult time security-wise.Security hasn't been this bad since the bloody civil war,so this question arises;is there any end to this menace?
Everyday,we are greeted with news of bombings, kidnappings, maiming, lynching, stealing and assassinations which is very bad for the image of this country. We are tired of sleeping with one eye closed.
Some people totally lost hope in our security system, when it headquarters was bombed. What a disgrace. If the headquarters can be attacked bombed with little or no resistance, what about the average citizens?
And from the looks of things,it doesn't seem as if the government is ready to tackle these insecurity problems.
Some days ago, I read about a story on how the federal government signed a contract with a Chinese firm on the procurement of cctv cameras in 2010.Imagine since 2010, the cameras hasn't been been completely installed in Abuja. They continue to toy with the lives of the citizens because of their greed.Very Pathetic of our leaders.Yet they continue to say that our security is improving when the amount of bombings, lynching and kidnappings have doubled.God help us.
Who/what do think caused our current security problems?do u think there is a way out?do you think the present administration can contain this problem?

NAIJA ELECTIONS

We have heard about the constant blabbing by the current administration about improvement of elections. Because we have been victims of poor elections.Poor elections has been one of the main reasons for the woes that has befallen this country. Our elections has been characterized by rigging, thuggery, killing and maiming of electorates. And if these can change,it will go a long way in changing this nation.

With Ondo state elections just few hours away, do you think our elections are really getting free and fair? or do you think it is a media stunt?

DO WE HAVE A JUDICIARY?

I just can't stop asking myself this question whenever I hear the word judiciary. It really seems alien to many Nigerians. The judiciary is supposed to be an arm of government whose aim is to interpret the law.But is this really happening? Are they really interpreting the law?what are they doing as an arm of government to curb the alarming rate of corruption?

More questions tend to surface when u try to answer questions about our judiciary. It seems that judiciary has now become a subsidiary(boys) to the other arms of government and corrupt personalities. This is evidenced on the recent conviction of the former governor of one of the southern states by the British law court. This same man with glaring evidences of money laundering(stealing) was acquitted by our law court. This is shameful. There is the case of another south-south governor who served for 8 years without any meaningful development. His case has been swept under the carpet. This is really shameful.

Those are just few examples of our judiciary's incompetence. We can write a whole book on how bad our judiciary have become that the people have decided to take laws into their hand by resorting to jungle justice.I laugh when I hear people being sentenced for stealing generators and other petty things. Why those that are responsible for how epileptic power supply are in their mansions.

You've got to ask yourself these questions, where are the subsidy thieves?what about Sen. Farouk and Otedola?Where are the pension thieves?what are our judiciary doing? do we have a judiciary?

This country must change and we need  a fair, just and completely independent judiciary for that to happen.

Share your thoughts with me on our Judiciary.Do you think our judiciary are doing enough?

DISGRACE

It is the only word I can use to describe our security network whenever i remember the words of the IG. He said that the Policemen that went to arrest the lynched Aluu 4 were chased away by the mob.

Our security network in this country is a big disgrace. This is what happens in a country where people are proud to fail. Where there is apathy in every sector of government.

I don't want to blame the IG alone, But each and every person that ought to ensure that we have an effective police force. Those people that ought to make sure our police are properly trained and equipped. It is disheartening to hear very bad stories daily of the activities of some of our poorly trained police officers. They are only seen poorly dressed, incompetent bribe-takers. Only few police officers are truly proud of wearing the uniforms. I wouldn't blame them because they are hardly retrained, poorly equipped, inadequately renumerated, they will be forgotten once they die in active service and their family would most likely suffer. They are sent with batons,to fight criminals with ak47 and machine guns. They send a police that has never seen a bomb before to detonate one. What a big joke.

Yet you see people siphoning police funds and retirement benefits to private accounts without being prosecuted.

Its a huge disgrace that from the moment the boys were beaten to the time they were burnt, our security officers could not stop them.

Somebody please tell me,what is the role of the police service commission?
