DO WE HAVE A JUDICIARY?

I just can't stop asking myself this question whenever I hear the word judiciary. It really seems alien to many Nigerians. The judiciary is supposed to be an arm of government whose aim is to interpret the law.But is this really happening? Are they really interpreting the law?what are they doing as an arm of government to curb the alarming rate of corruption?

More questions tend to surface when u try to answer questions about our judiciary. It seems that judiciary has now become a subsidiary(boys) to the other arms of government and corrupt personalities. This is evidenced on the recent conviction of the former governor of one of the southern states by the British law court. This same man with glaring evidences of money laundering(stealing) was acquitted by our law court. This is shameful. There is the case of another south-south governor who served for 8 years without any meaningful development. His case has been swept under the carpet. This is really shameful.

Those are just few examples of our judiciary's incompetence. We can write a whole book on how bad our judiciary have become that the people have decided to take laws into their hand by resorting to jungle justice.I laugh when I hear people being sentenced for stealing generators and other petty things. Why those that are responsible for how epileptic power supply are in their mansions.

You've got to ask yourself these questions, where are the subsidy thieves?what about Sen. Farouk and Otedola?Where are the pension thieves?what are our judiciary doing? do we have a judiciary?

This country must change and we need  a fair, just and completely independent judiciary for that to happen.

Share your thoughts with me on our Judiciary.Do you think our judiciary are doing enough?
