LET THE CHANGE START FROM US

Nigeria, why do our leaders support corruption so much?don't they have self esteem to the  extent that they have become serial thieves and liars?where did they get the conscience steal without thinking of the dying, sick, hungry, elderly, unemployed and ordinary citizens?

I have thought deeply about this and the only answer I came up with led to more questions.Which is "why do we accept and celebrate thieves?".Isn't it weird that we celebrate those that steal huge portions of our national wealth. We bow down to those that steal our billions and give us thousands in return .

These are the people that encourage jungle justice by not putting an effective policing system,by not creating an independent and  just judicial system.

But we have to change our mentality we need to stop glorifying our thieves as evidenced some years ago when some group of persons went to welcome a thief just released from prison with pomp and pageantry. That singular action alone says 'they are thanking me for stealing their money,I must steal more to get more praise'.That's it

All those must stop the benefit to be gathered for refusing a corrupt leader far outweighs the little goodies we are going to get from them.We need to start asking non-performing leaders questions

IS THIS SHAKARA?OR IS THIS REAL?

The face-off between the legislators and the executive seems  to be never-ending.After the threat to impeach the president over budget implementation, now they have decided not to pass the 2013 budget over poor implementation.

It seems that they have good intentions, but we know that most politicians in Nigeria hardly have the interests of their people at heart. This is evidenced in the way  they inflate their salary of about 2 point something million to about #29 million for the reps and  more than #35 million for the senators which is alarming.A legislature where they can record a torchlight bought for #500 as#20,000?

I don't still have confidence in them to fight for the people.Because as legislators, they must live among the people, know their plights and take the thoughts of the people to Abuja. Not people you see once in 4 years.

It is obvious that our federal government hasn't done anything for the people.Everything that they said they have done is just on the pages of newspaper and in their minds.Because in the state that I live,it doesn't seem as if we have a federal government. These corrupt people need to be held  accountable for their actions.

Do you think the legislators are right not to pass the budget? or do you think they have an ulterior motive?
They have covered our mouths for long its time to let them know our true feelings by leaving your thoughts in the comments section.

Jonathan, Sambo, Anyim to spend N1.59bn on welfare in 2013:WHAT KIND OF WELFARE IS THAT

The offices of three principal functionaries of the Federal Republic of Nigeria – the President, the Vice-President and Secretary to the Government of the Federation – will spend N1.59bn on welfare packages in 2013.

While Goodluck Jonathan is currently the president, Namadi Sambo is the VP. The office of the SGF is occupied by Anyim Pius Anyim.

Details of the budget obtained by our correspondents in Abuja on Friday showed that the three offices would spend N1.59bn on the undefined item tagged welfare packages.

The SGF office will spend the lion share of N1.07bn; the President’s office will spend N355.9m, while the VP’s office will spend N160.83m.

As at press time, it was not certain whether the welfare package stands for miscellaneous expenses such as transportation of visitors to government officials.

The 2013 budget shows that Nigeria will spend slightly less than N1bn (precisely N990.24m) in feeding Jonathan and Sambo in 2013.

This is really greedy coming from our leaders that swore to make Nigeria better. What kind of welfare is that when the yearly minimum is just #206,000.

What about the citizens too, don't we deserve welfare?

It is only in Nigeria our leaders steal without thinking of the common man

These guys just think of ways of siphoning our common wealth by giving it outrageous and ridiculous names.Only God knows the name they will give to the next one,'the president's dead grandfather welfare package' PATHETIC

What do you think about this new style of GRABBING

1 BILLION 4 FOOD?WHO WILL EAT IT?

This is the question I ask myself when i think about the money budgeted for food by the presidency. It is absolutely ridiculous that the president keeps budgeting huge amount of cash yearly just for food. When the people that voted him into office barely have 'garri' to drink, yet he is budgeting that amount just for food only?
We have watched enough as they have squandered our money on nothing meaningful. It is time to speak out when our leaders waste our God-given resources on in other countries. The people needs hospitals, schools, power, security and a sense of belonging in their own country.
Do you think we should be spending such amount of money on food for the elite, when there are other important ventures where it will be useful to the ordinary man?

SMH 4 JONATHAN

I just read dis story and  want to know your view on this issue

President Goodluck Jonathan is expected to lead top Peoples Democratic Party leaders to Akure, Ondo State, on Saturday to drum up support for the party ahead of the October 20 governorship election in the state.

According to the PDP National Vice-Chairman, South-West, Mr. Segun Oni, the President will witness the concluding stage of the party’s campaign in the state.

It is only in Africa(Nigeria especially) you witness situations like this. How can the president go and canvass for votes when is house clearly on fire?

It is situations like this that encourage do or die politics in the country. If he has so much time he should use it to tackle our problems instead of going to meaningless campaign. The reason I say meaningless is because, the presence of the president is not going to make me vote for is party. The people ought to know PDP's manifesto(that is if they have one) at this stage of our democracy

I think by this time, the president should be visiting flood ravaged areas, address why money is being released without implementation(why Benin-Ore road is still in a poor state despite the money being pumped into it yearly),why we must continue to depend on oil to fuel our economy, why we cant tackle insecurity and why we no longer believe in our justice system instead resort to jungle justice

And lastly WHY ARE THE OIL SUBSIDY THIEVES STILL AT HOME!!!

OUR LEGISLATORS

Nigeria, one of the most endowed countries but still one of the countries with the poorest set of people on the face of the earth. We decided to practice democracy because we wanted everyone's voice to be heard.
But can we call what we have democracy? We decided to send people who came from our communities who knew our plights to represent us because everyone cannot be talking at the same time.To serve as a check and balance to the executive.
But what have they done?
Let me answer that NOTHING
Instead they have been among those making the live of we the citizens worse.Did I hear you say how?
Let me give you little examples
Do you know that an average senator in this country earns more than Obama?who is the president of the most civilized country in the world? They earn 29 million naira monthly while Obama earns 5.3million naira per month.Imagine that. And they are even struggling to pay the minimum wage of #18000
Our legislators are lazy criminals sucking this great nation dry.I have lost confidence in them.Somebody wake me when they pass a bill in which they collect the minimum wage and make legislation part time.Somebody wake me up when they pass a bill forbidding a public office holder from going abroad for treatment or "rest" as the call it.Somebody wake me up when they pass a bill compelling all public officers to send their children to public schools.
They always talk about policies but I have never felt the impact of any of their. If you have felt their use, please let ma know in the comments section
A legislator is supposed to be someone who knows his/her people, whose house supposed to be without high and mighty fences, who know the cost of transport, healthcare, food and power
Not someone that comes once in 4 years during elections to share few bags of garri, rice, tin tomatoes and beans, whose child/wife you have never seen since he went to office, who goes about in huge jeeps wit police and army
A LEGISLATOR IS A MAN/WOMAN OF THE PEOPLE
What do you think of our senators let them know our true feelings toward them
